Additional Information:
Brad Rogers is entering his initial season as the first Pioneer head men’s basketball coach in UAV history. Rogers comes to the Pioneers after spending the last three years working as an assistant men’s basketball coach and assistant athletic director at Arizona Christian University. A native of Cameron Park, Calif., Rogers has been instrumental in helping the Firestorm build a nationally recognized program in the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). In his first season and the programs first season in the highly competitive GSAC and NAIA Division I, the Firestorm finished with 20 wins and reached the conference championship game, only to be outlasted by defending NAIA National Champion Concordia University, 112-111, in 2OT’s. Arizona Christian earned an at-large bid to the program’s first NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship. The 2012-13 season brought a number of accomplishments to the program. The Firestorm started the season with a 10-1 record. They beat defending NAIA National Champion Concordia University in their first ever GSAC conference game, and they earned their first ever NAIA DI National ranking (ranked as high as No. 19 in 2012-13). The 2013-14 season would bring on more excitement, as the Firestorm started their season with a win over NCAA DI Northern Arizona University (the program’s first ever NCAA DI victory). Arizona Christian would start the season 14-1, on their way to a then-school record 23 wins and a back to back trip to the NAIA National Championship. The Firestorm would knock off eight nationally ranked opponents (including at Vanguard University, who won the NAIA National Championship in 2013-14). Arizona Christian earned their highest ranking in NAIA DI, coming in at No. 6 the week of Dec. 10. The 2014-15 Firestorm season was capped with a school-record 25-win campaign and the team's first victory in the program history at the NAIA National Championship in Kansas City, Mo. The Firestorm won 68 games while Coach Rogers had been an assistant. Arizona Christian recorded three-consecutive 20-plus win seasons and defeated 17 ranked opponents in three years. Coach Rogers recruited and coached five GSAC All-Conference players and two NAIA All-Americans.
